  1. There is not running track around the pitch, only UEFA's modern standards and requirements of 8 meters for security. No more need to rope off the closest seats. Plus the wider standard of the pitch today will allow the faster, quicker players to show their pace. Do you wish to see CL matches in Liverpool or at a neutral site? You couldn't see those games at Anfield..

  2. clubshaun, do you think anyone can add 20k seats at Anfield any closer than this HKS design? Not very likely… Adding more tiers to Anfield won't be the same. Or redeveloping three new stands won't be the same Anfield either…

FSG probably don't have the cash but they will be able to sell naming rights and arrange for a loan. Redeveloping Anfield FSG won't be able to sell the naming rights for anywhere near as much as building a new stadium.

  3. The genius of the HKS design is how the four different stands sit ON the park, not in the park. Elevations are different with each stand, the Kop sitting on the highest elevation and the three tier stand sitting on the lowest elevation. Stanley Park is NOT FLAT… If you don't like the outside wrap of the stadium, that can be changed to brick or match the row houses nearby…

  4. Liverpool finished second last year after leading the tables most of the year, yet the Yankee owners suck? This year with the two top players injured for more than half of the games played so far, some of you are acting as if they are at the bottom of the table. FA Cup can still be won, and fourth place isn't out of the picture yet. Talk about fair weather fans! So much for die hard fans!

  5. I'am a Chelsea fan and I think Anfield is better than this modern style stadium. Gunners have a Emiates – stadium whithout soul Sorry for my English.

  6. This is aload of rubbish (read first).

I'm an Oldham fan and and we have to wait till the credit crunch ends till we can CARRY ON (one stand down already). Paint the Anfield seats blue and we'll have it! 😉

  7. No, the cost is the soul of Liverpool football club.

You are a liar, you aren't just someone who used to deliver 7 Up / Dr Pepper.

You are an employee of Hicks and/or Gillett. / HKS architecture.

  8. Anfield IS NOT WORTHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Your opinion is worthless!

I don't care about American livestock shows, I care about a British football club called Liverpool.

    Latest news, this just in:
It'll be at least another year before the construction begins – I AM VERY HAPPY TODAY!!! 🙂

  9. Why is it you are assuming that someone will love the new stadium??? You don't know that! You're in no position to tell someone what they'll love!
You actually gave "More restrooms" as a reason why we will love it?… Jesus Christ! Yes a new stadium will help compete with Man U, (Getting sick of everyone using Man U as a reason we have to sacrifice our historic stadium.) But like I've said, some things are more important than money, you being an American, I don't expect you to understand that.

  10. That's right, David Moores did want to build a new stadium but couldn't get the finance, (Even though he is a rich fuck as well.) He decided that he wasn't making enough money from Liverpool so he decided to sell to Hicks and Gillett for 20 pieces of silver. Yes more money would mean better players, but what is the cost? – THE SOUL OF LFC.

  11. Sorry mate, but the money hungry yank bastards won't think twice about selling the naming rights to a filthy rich corporation to make an extra 10,000,000 a year. Get ready for the coca cola stadium (to quote Kim) or maybe the Walmart sports stadium, or perhaps the Amstrad Stadium.

  12. ooohhhh, so that's why glass is used, because it is beautiful, I should have known.
Jesus christ, you sound like a fucking publicist, and by the way, glass is cheap. It isn't used because they try to make everything look unique and unimaginable blah blah blah they use it because it keeps costs down! I suggest you wake the fuck up. It is because of ignorance that you display why ugly buildings like this are built. If people knew a bit about architecture they wouldn't allow it.

  13. They will probably name the stadium after a brand. Like the emirates stadiaum. Remember Propaganda isn't used just to convince people to join the army, we see it everyday and don't even know it.

  14. LFC is a huge club and I agree that it needs a larger stadium to accommodate its fans. But this design is not worthy by any stretch of the imagination. Bill Shankly would throw up if he saw it. Architects don't care about creating something beautiful; they know that companies won't buy their design if it will cost too much to build, so they design buildings with lots of glass. They use as much glass as possible because the cheaper their design is to build, the more likely it is to be built.

  15. e.g. "No, I'm sure that this proposed stadium does capture the essence of Liverpool, the public relations guys told me so, why would they lie to anyone? It's not as if they're getting money for it right? Richt?"

This will probably known as the ugliest stadium in england, possibly europe. I'm not sure which stadium is more ugly, this one or The Allianz Arena in Germany. Manchester UTD will rub it into our faces.

  16. The most dangerous thing in the world is denial e.g. "No, i sure George bush isn't an illiterate idiot, I'm sure our leader is capable of making America an even greater country" e.g "No, I'm sure Leona Lewis's career will last longer than 15 minutes, I'm sure that Simon Cowell wasn't just praising her to make people buy her album and make more money, I'm sure Simon Cowell cares more about music than money"

  17. 21st century architecture doesn't have detail. This is because detail costs money and that isn't what businessmen want. This is why so many new buildings are being built mainly out of glass. Glass is cheap and this stadium is cheap and impersonal. It definitely does not "Capture the essence of Liverpool"!!! If anybody believes it will then they will probably agree with Tracey Emin's publicist when he says that her work is inspirational and a true work of art.

  18. Those money hungry Americans Hicks and Gillette have no love for football, let alone Liverpool fc. The just want to knock down Anfield and replace with a stadium with more seats so they can sell more tickets and make more money. I can't believe that Liverpool fans are buying into their propaganda. They are American businessmen; all they care about is money.

  19. What an ugly stadium, I am a Liverpool fan and i know that this stadium will never be known as one of the best in the world. It is cheap (i know i know 300,000,000 isn't cheap) but they used as much glass as possible because it is cheap. Then they paid the Liverpool echo to print quotes like "It captures the essence of Liverpool" What a joke, the only thing this stadium captures is the essence of the stock holders who wish to save as much money as possible.

  20. If anybody knows anything about architecture they know this: Glass is used so often in 21st century buildings because it is the cheapest building material to use. This proposed stadium is as cheap as it could be. It is ugly and modern; it will be the embarrassment of our great club. Anybody who says this stadium is beautiful is probably the same type of person to say the 2012 Olympic logo is interesting and inspired. The truth is that this stadium is a ugly and impersonal.

  21. I know glass is modern, believe me I know exactly how modern glass is. It is incredibly cheap, that is why it is used than any other building material. Glass is not classy, concrete with details is classy. Do you actually believe the stadium is beautiful?

  22. What an ugly stadium. It will most certainly not capture the essence of Liverpool. They used as much glass as possible because it is the cheapest building material to use. Ugly and modern!

  23. Im afraid to inform you that your wrong about O/T expanding, it is being reviewed due to safety fears on it's structure. It will be a long while yet before they even consider expanding.
