Liverpool are in pole position to sign Luis Diaz after making a late £45m swoop for the Porto winger, who prefers a move to Jurgen Klopp’s side rather than Tottenham.

The Colombia international was manager Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice for the summer transfer window, but Liverpool have accelerated their plans due to Spurs’ strong interest.

Liverpool are said to be offering an initial £37m, with bonuses included in the deal that will only be triggered if Diaz becomes a big success at Anfield.

  1. This is an amazing signing for anyone.. This guy has all the class a player could ask for, he also has football intelligence.. Great signing for Liverpool, he will fit in perfectly….
Why would anyone want to play under Conte, he's a serial quitter..

  2. My grandad could move faster than him, although my grandad wanted 61 million euros to sign..
I told him. "Grandad just take your ten woodbines and bottle of old spice to sign."
But alas greed got the better of him. ?

  3. I love how he says conte is fully aware that it will take more than one window….. spurs fans need to stop panicking let's embrace bentacur and kulusevski for the time being

  4. As a big Porto fan, I can speak for everyone else that we're not happy with this transfer. Luis Diaz should have never been let go for 55 Million Euros. This is absolutely embarrassing!!! The price should have been 140 Million Euros. Take it or leave it! Period! Of course Liverpool is happy now and getting an amazing player for almost nothing! That's right, Luis Diaz is worth much more than what he was sold for! It's pathetic! We wonder if the Janitor who cleans the stadium is making these decisions? Maybe our President Mr. Pinto da Costa should step aside and allow someone who still has their brain cells in tact to take over. Rumor has it that the club needs money but their selling their best players for pathetic amounts. This is absolutely ridiculous!

  5. Imagine thinking it necessary to include "Player prefers Klopp's side over Spurs" in the video title…. 😉
I reckon only two reasons would sway a player towards Spurs in a similar scenario:
    1. Pursuit of money
    2. Feelings of inadequacy competing for a starting berth

  6. He is far to good to go to a mediocre team like Spurs who are specialists in failure and never ever win silverware. He is a CL player. I wish him the best of luck at Anfield. Great purchase and great value. Shrewd purchase indeed

  7. Can i just ask, ive recently been rather distracted and have not been keeping up with the transfer window, but dont we need a midfielder more urgently than a winger? Im not criticizing this deal if it gets done, i just hope we can also bring in someone to replace Gini long term

  8. 40 Million is a drop in the ocean in today's times, is an absolute bargain for a proper quality and virtuos player and tbh negotiations stink a little bit. FC Porto as seen have seen lesser players come out for much more €€ ?

  9. I don't know if you noticed but Fabinho, Thiago Jota and now Luis Diaz. Not a scent of superbly hyped instagram posts or like months of speculations or rumours; just get in, swift and grab a player. Other PL top teams should really step up the transfer game, ManUtd for example had an entire saga on Sancho.

  10. I'm not taking the piss I promise because I rememver the times when we thought we were about to sign a player only for Chelsea to sign them, Mourinho done it a couple of times, one was Salah when Brendan Rodgers wanted him but Jose took him, I can't remember the other player Jose signed but I remember being fuming but it's not an indication of Tottenhams transfer policy being right or wrong it's normal that a player would prefer Liverpool over Tottenham these days! So it's just one of them in it? I remember even a preferring going to Tottenham before us when Rodgers was manager as well but Chelsea stole him at last minute, maybe have been Salah actually . YNWA

  11. Quiet and swift , the way Liverpool do business is class, out the blue for the majority of fans , although we know Klopp been looking at him for the summer but as far as signing him now it's out the blue for most of us. Love it. YNWA
