  3. Something sacred and magical about Melwood. They won it 6 times from Melwood.. The young apprentice players always had somewhere to graduate from Kirkby to go to. There was always a hunger for youngsters like Steven Gerrard to graduate to Melwood from kirkby to be with the senior squad. . Now the senior players have all gone to kirkby. . It was a piece of the LFC jigsaw that should never have been abandoned. Just an opinion It was always a pleasure as a boy to walk in anytime and watch my heros. My best and most sacred memory was Ray Clemence making us get in an orderly que to get his autograph. The players were all available and approachable. It was ironic and heartbreaking for me when Ray Clemence passed away the very week that Liverpool trained at Melwood for the last time. Yes times move on. It will be very interesting to see what actually happens to Melwood in the next few years.
