Liverpool FC slams behaviour of fans after Liver Building catches fire

Liverpool FC has condemned the «wholly unacceptable» behaviour of some fans after thousands gathered for a chaotic night of celebrations following the club’s Premier League victory.

In a joint statement with Merseyside Police and the Liverpool City Council, the club hit out at the actions of «several thousand» supporters, accusing them or risking «public safety» by congregating in the city centre despite concerns of a second peak of coronavirus.

During the celebrations, which took place for a second night and which centred around the Pier Head, part of the Liver Building caught fire.

Videos circulating on social media showed a firework hitting the building, which is partly owned by Everton FC majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, as supporters celebrated the club’s first Premier League win in 30 years.

  1. Amazing what winning by DEFAULT does to some people's head. Still it had to happen, now the people of Liverpool can play the VICTIM again. DEFAULT! DEFAULT.

  2. We're heading for Super Saturday next weekend – Pub frenzies. Some BLB marches – Liverpool fans still celebrating .. Beaches to pack out. Lets all go Covid Crazy for Boris' herd immunity.

  3. Yep…. this just proved that scousers are far tougher than any BLM or antifa pussies…even the police are too afraid to go near them… we should bring these guys in to maintain law and order and to prevent our monuments being vandalised by moronic kneelers…

  4. I'm from Liverpool I'm ashamed that you could even attempted to damage the liver building that is a symbol of our city. I'm absolutely made up Liverpool won I'm totally happy about that but I'm absolutely sickend by the behavior of these people. Remember who you are your scousers act like it respect my city yes I have a right to say my city I was born in Liverpool went to school on Liverpool have family in Liverpool Liverpool is my home Liverpool is my city and I'm bloody proud to be from Liverpool

  5. I'm not a Liverpool fan but how is this any different from thousands of BLM protestors gathering in London? As far as I know, no statues were destroyed in Liverpool.

  6. With everything going on in the world a bit of litter on the floor and an accidental fiework fire is nothing to cry over.the only thing i can see is the city needs to invest in more bins and if you could smell it probably more public toilets like every city mostly need ?

  7. What were they going to see ? The ground was closed ??? Same every season, same teams playing each other over and over. Really exciting – not. I got more excited when my budgie started talking. Now that’s talent?

  8. Liverpool fans have wanted this for so long. When 2000 congregated outside the stadium everyone one in the world thought, you know what, let them have their fun for one night, they deserve it. But they just had to carry on, night after night, setting things on fire. Now everybody thinks they are dicks.

What that says is liverpool fc condone there fans actions if the liver building didnt catch fire then, as it was lfc actions that caused all this mayhem( as if they did not play this would not of occured) whats the point in having no fans in the stadium if this happens, lfc should pay the civil costs of this "event" for the clean up and police attendance and hospital admissions from drunken injurys,
Why should other people be paying the bill,
Congrats to liverpool fc for winning but its now held in shame because of the actions of your fans and it will never be swept under the carpet

  10. How can anyone claim to be a sport fan when their only motive is to get pissed and cause mayhem .All need be done is study the film footage of the people involved and do a dawn raid on them .The police know who the trouble makers are but there is no strong political leadership to bring these and other groups of "protesters" to justice .

  11. Jesus stop virtue signaling. The youth of today are angry with the government and older generations, not that they fully know why or how to express themselves. The comments are poison. This is England.
